With our Project A TRIP AROUND MASSERIE ... ... ... ... .. trees, flavors, fragrances and dioxin we built a route operational / cultural awareness on the preservation of our natural environment to promote a better understanding of land and resources, to provide hypotheses and prospects future. For several years, the educational offer of our school places a strong emphasis on environmental issues of our region, due to a higher level of industrial pollution, no longer sustainable. The territory tarantino increased in recent decades only on the basis of hope is the steel industry, in fact, a culture marked by centuries of agricultural type, and offers unparalleled wealth and unknown the younger generations. Starting from the concept of landscape we have chosen to make a journey through the history of the agricultural landscape of Taranto, in the Farmhouse, a precious cultural heritage of our land where our grandparents moved with ease and our children, however, unaware of, is essential become aware of their roots, for economic exploitation and cultural environment, to help children to approach the agricultural landscape and gain awareness and respect for, and then focus on a land development that takes into account its actual and potential vocations.
The route was marked by an experimental component, interdisciplinary addressing the historical, geomorphological, natural, tourist and environmental impact of farms. The activities were carried out in school hours and extracurricular using innovative methods to bring about active participation of students (brainstorming, action research, cooperative learning ... ...), collaborations with external agencies (State Archives, the Association "Friends" Association "M . Motolese, farms owners ...), guided by the objectives of allowing the boys to field test the method of work of those who do research and to raise awareness of environmental problems. For the elaboration of the contents have been consulted, in addition to websites, newspapers, multimedia products, theoretical texts. To develop the historical aspect, the boys, led by Professor MG Russo and Dr M. Chirico, have looked at the State Archive of old documents. Through reading and transcription of the document, experiencing fatigue of handwriting, the search for the correct meaning, the discovery of similarities with custom, tradition and dialect words still in force today, the students have learned to question and confront the documents with others. Finally they did "speak" cards yellowed by time. The environmental theme of the chosen site has seen players especially the students who attend the address of chemistry and biology, who explored the forms of pollution that have sadly affected the farm "Carmine" Fornaro family, during his visit in that farm were collected soil samples on which they were carried out in school laboratories, chemical and microbiological analysis. As a testimony of a proposed development of ancient farms, landmark was the visit to the Farm headquarters dell'Asoociazione socio-educational-rehabilitation "FRIENDS".
Each of these actions has been told on the blog created and maintained by pupils (10 pupils) to raise awareness and inform citizens and institutions on the development efforts to the chosen place. On the blog you have published the results research on the landscape, images, comments, interviews, videos, photos, some posts have also been published in English (post yr. microbiological)
All images and videos have been published with the permission of the characters included (release form filled out by parents in the case of minors)
The boys have shown great interest in the activities of developing the course with enthusiasm and seriousness for us as teachers, was an important educational opportunity that has allowed us Set our lessons in a different way from traditional classroom instruction, using innovative methods of undoubted effectiveness. We believe this very positive experience, knowing that your use of certain instruments is necessary in order to promote active processes of change through action that moves the world.
